High Dose Intravenous Vitamin C
"The benefits of Vitamin C, especially in higher doses, for treating a wide range of health problems, has been recognized and studied since the 1930's.
Many great Scientists, Doctors, and researchers have published studies on it and most are now available online."
High Dose Intravenous Vitamin C
Mega dose Intravenous Vitamin C
25,000 mg (25grms) to 100,000mg (100grms).
Vitamin C, (plant based), when given intravenously acts differently than when given orally.
There is a great deal of medical research to support the use of IV Vitamin C therapy. It is one of the best antiviral agents available, with the ability to neutralize and eliminate a wide range of toxins.
Vitamin C will enhance host resistance, greatly augmenting the immune system’s ability to neutralize bacterial and fungal infections and significantly helps to improve Quality of Life.
Although the literature and clinical studies clearly show IVC has a good safety profile and potentially important anti-tumor activity as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of cancer, it is not considered a “stand alone” therapy.
It is one component of multi-faceted comprehensive care that should include other treatments and lifestyle changes that support wellness. IVC can be used with traditional cancer treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
IVC treatment is conditional on lab work that allows for initial and ongoing IVC. Adequate G6PD levels, renal, liver, and bone marrow function are required.
The decision that a patient is appropriate to start IVC is made by Dr Stewart after review of their lab results and review of the patient health history.
When given intravenously, IV Vitamin C acts as an oxidative agent. It produces Hydrogen Peroxide which selectively destroys cancer cells and viruses. Normal cells produce an enzyme catalase which protects against peroxide. Cancer cells fail to produce this enzyme.
It may be given in conjunction with chemotherapeutic agents, as several of the studies show on the links in this site.
Clinical studies have also shown that intravenous and oral doses of vitamin C may improve symptoms and prolong survival in terminal cancer patients as an adjunctive part of their Palliative care treatment.
IV Vitamin C also helps the body heal faster and it improves energy levels and can lessen fatigue, and it has also been shown to decrease pain.
It also provides resiliency to infections like colds/flu or other viral/bacterial infections.
In cancer patients, IVC is known to improve the response to cancer therapies because it alleviates the side effects of traditional therapies, improves appetite and helps patients remain more active.
Studies have also shown that it can also help to make some chemotherapeutic agents more effective.

Benefits and Advantages of Intravenous (IV) Vitamin C Therapy
Nutrients are delivered directly to the cells through the bloodstream.
With intravenous Vitamin C therapy, as soon as your drip starts, Vitamin C is quickly circulated through your bloodstream and delivered to cells, where it is immediately available for use.
The very process of having Intravenous Vitamin C, allows it to bypass the digestive and gastric systems, where sometimes there may be issues of poor digestion or absorbtion, so the vital nutrient (vitamin) is immediately put to use by the body, without any losses due to the digestive process.
This also means no upset stomach or intestinal problems like cramps, nausea, or diarrhea, which sometimes result from taking high doses of oral Vitamin C.
IV Therapy facilitates the higher doses necessary for effective treatment outcomes.
Research has shown that there are specific blood or tissue concentrations of Vitamin C that must be achieved in order for them to be pharmacologically active. Numerous studies show high concentrations of Vitamin C are required in the serum and intracellular fluid before it can exert its beneficial effects.
These high concentrations simply cannot be achieved by taking the nutrients orally; the bulk of vitamins and minerals swallowed in pill or liquid form is excreted, with very little actually absorbed into the bloodstream. Complicating this further is that many patients may have conditions that impair their intestinal absorption in the first place.
Finally, as noted above, many patients cannot tolerate high doses orally of certain vitamins and minerals because these upset their stomachs. Therefore, only intravenous vitamin therapy can directly deliver pharmacologically effective doses of the required nutrients.

Must watch video about IV Vitamin C
If you intend visiting us for IVC, then please watch this video above, prior to your visit.
In it, Dr Ron Hunninghake, of the Riordan Clinic explains in detail what happens when receiving IVC as an adjunctive treatment for patients with cancer. He also gives some background and the science of vitamin C.
Here at Dr Stewarts Clinic we provide a similar protocol to the Riordan Clinic.
We also encourage you to research as much as you can, so that when you choose to visit us, you will be better informed.

Many Ways Vitamin C Affects Cancer & Health
Dr. Riordan presents the research data regarding the effectiveness of vitamin C as a therapy for people with cancer and how it helps in three ways.

US based, Dr. Riordan shares what he has learned in 29 years of administering high dose vitamin C to people with cancer and viral ailments. Learn the latest in how nutrients affect gene expression.
Quality of Life benefits
Dr Stewart's Clinic use IV Vitamin C to treat patients with several different health conditions, and it is well documented to be also helpful to patients who are also undergoing regular cancer treatments, as an adjunctive therapy.
" Extensive literature demonstrates that cancer patients experience vitamin C deficiency correlated with reduced oral intake, inflammation, infection, disease processes, and treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery.
Studies report reductions in inflammatory markers and suggest some improvement in symptoms, with a possible benefit in Quality Of Life (QOL) when IV C alone or in combination with oral vitamin C is used in oncologic care. "

• Humans are among the very few mammalian species that cannot internally produce vitamin C when needed, in times of stress, injury or illness .
• Many patients with a serious illness are often depleted of vitamin C, and IVC provides an efficient means of restoring tissue reserves.
• Studies now indicate that IVC has been shown to improve quality of life in cancer patients by a variety of metrics.
• IVC reduces inflammation (as measured by C-reactive protein levels) and reduces the production of proinflammatory cytokines.
• At high concentrations, ascorbate is preferentially toxic to tumor cells but not normal cells and is the tumor blood vessels’ formation inhibitor.
• Treatment of established infections and diseases requires significantly higher (gram) doses of the vitamin to compensate for the increased inflammatory response and metabolic demand.

Several recent studies have indicated that intravenous (IV) vitamin C alleviates a number of cancer- and chemotherapy-related symptoms, such as fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, and pain. Improvements in physical, role, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, as well as an improvement in overall health, were also observed.

Complementary treatment of breast cancer patients with i.v. vitamin C was shown to be a well tolerated optimization of standard tumour-destructive therapies, reducing quality of life-related side-effects.
